SRINAGAR, July 2: Retired employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board today appealed to Chairman Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi for the release of their pending pensions and benefits.
During a press conference in Srinagar, spokesperson Akhzer highlighted the significant financial hardship faced by families due to halted payments since April last year. He said that pensions for nearly 40 employees have been stopped, making it difficult for them to support their families. “There are around 45 employees suffering, with nearly 40 unable to celebrate Eid due to lack of funds,” he said.

Akhzer noted that many employees are battling life-threatening diseases and cannot afford medical expenses. “A person with cancer was asked to retire, but his pension was not granted. He has six daughters and is suffering. Some employees are on ventilators,” he said.
Despite Dr. Andrabi sanctioning pensions for nearly 12 employees when she took office, pensions have been halted for the past two years. “I have not received my pension for the last six months. I underwent surgery in February and have a 29-year service record. What is the issue? Why have our pensions stopped?” he said.
He also mentioned an announcement made on January 2nd regarding the sanctioning of pensions. “We have a copy of the order for the release of pensions. What happened to the order? I am extremely saddened that board members are not speaking in our favor,” he expressed.
He appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and help them receive their pensions.
