KATHUA, Jan 10 : A meeting of All J&K Retired Police Personnel NGO and Others Forum held a meeting here today wherein they highlighted many demands like implementation of 5th Pay Commission from January 1, 1996.
During the meeting, retired police personnel expressed resentment over the delay tactics adopted by the Government and police department on the implementation of 5th Pay Commission with effect from January 1, 1996, as recommended by Pay Nominee Committee constituted by the Government under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Finance Department.
“As per the recommendation of empowered committee, police headquarters has also worked out the amount required for financial implications involved in revoking pay anomaly at the level of ASIs and Constables amounting to rupees less than 6 crore, which is bearable amount but surprisingly the recommendations of the committee are not implemented so far”, they regretted.
Other demands highlighted in the meeting include enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 5000 as admissible to the Legislators, free medical to retired police personnel and their families from Police Hospital Jammu, 10 % reservation to wards of retired as well as serving police personnel in &K police department and professional educational institutions, and 20% Hardship Allowances instead of 10% in favour of police personnel.
The members also raised serious concerns over the non-settlement of long pending SRO cases wherein the beneficiaries were under age at the time of procurement of SRO benefit and suggested the department to constitute a committee at appropriate level to review all such cases for early settlement.
