This is in response to the editorial “Retrievingstateland from encroachers” (DE 6.6.2019). A lady revenue officer (TehsildarBudgam) who has been posted in Budgam only a few months back has been after the land mafia from day one. In her recent action the officer retrieved more than 10 kanals of stateland in Humhama Friends colony area by destroying several illegal structures. Some senior Government officers are said to be involved in this heinous crime .
The lady officer earlier retrieved more than 81 kanals of stateland in RakheArath and 10 kanals of land at Sheikhpora areas of Budgam. It is urged upon other revenue department officers especially Tehsildars to work in the same direction. State Government must conferstate award to the officer in recognition of her exemplary work. Thousands of hectares of stateland is under illegal encroachment across J&K and authorities must impress upon Deputy Commissioners, SDMs and Tehsildars to retrieve the same within a specified time period
