JAMMU, Dec 1: All J&K Passengers’ Welfare Association has demanded that passenger fare should be slashed down thirty percent in view of deceased prices of petrol and diesel.
The demand was raised during a meeting of the Association, held under the chairmanship of its president R C Sharma.
While addressing a meeting, Mr Sharma said that the oil companies have done a great and people-friendly job by slashing the diesel price and now it is up to transporters and Government to come forward for the welfare of people and justified reason. “Now the time has come that Government should immediately slash down the fare by 30 percent,” he said adding that there was no reason that the fare should remain same when the diesel and petrol prices are slashed down. He also asked the people to come forward and force the Government to review the fares immediately.
Coming heavily on all political parties including Congress, BJP, NC, PDP, Panthers and others for their silence over the open loot by the transporters.
Others who spoke in the meeting, included TS Abrol, Jaspal Singh, Iqbal Singh Iqbal, Nazir Ahmed and M S Nazki.
