JAMMU, Oct 12: Expressing serious concern over surrender on beef issue by the State Government, Panun Kashmir (PK) today said that the way the Government was tackling the issue shows that it (Government) is in abdication process.
This situation is dangerous for nation as such things have been debated in the State Assembly which are also not under its jurisdiction, PK convener, Dr Agnishekhar, its chairman Dr Ajay Chrungoo and senior leader O N Trisal told reporters here today.
The forces who are committing sacrilegious acts on road sides, highways etc are showing resilience to ISIS which has created a reign of terror in Iraq and other countries, said Dr Ajay Chrungoo, adding  the sacrilegious acts in India are more dangerous than killing of humans by ISIS.
The cow slaughter is banned in J&K for last 150 years now since the time of Maharaja and after the formation of the political Government in 1947 in the State the then Prime Minister, J&K Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah also did not touch this law as its enactment  was outcome of a secular consensus, said Dr Chrungoo. By talking about revocation of the law tantamount to harming secular character of the State, he added.
He said if the NC leader and former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah as well as PDP support revocation of the law this shows that they are opposed to co-existence in the State. The fundamentalist elements performing sacrilegious acts in the open tantamount to what ISIS is doing, he added.
The cow in India is being worshiped since Vedic period and it is the duty of every Hindu all over the globe to ensure its protection, said Dr Agnishekhar. “We will go to any extent to protect the cow”, he added.
He said it is unfortunate that the conduct of MLAs protesting against the beef party was condemned in the Assembly but no one condemned the action of Independent MLA from Langate Engineer Rashid who conducted the beef party in a Government institute to hurt the sentiments of Hindus.
Making a scathing attack on BJP Dr Ajay said that Party has double standards as it has not come openly to take action against Engineer Rasid for holding beef Party but in Bihar the Party is for ban on beef. If the BJP is sincere then why does not it bring the Bill banning beef in the country in Parliament as Congress has also assured full support in this regard, he added.
PK leaders Kuldeep Raina, Daya Krishan and Sanjay Moza were also present in the press conference.
