JAMMU, Oct 14: While maintaining that implementing Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan Programme (RGKAP) in schools can provide opportunities to the youths of rural areas to excel in various sports activities, Director General, Youth, Services and Sports, J&K Government, Naveen Agarwal asserted to implement it in the schools in letter and spirit.
DG Sports was addressing the officials of the department during a meeting held in the office chamber of Deputy Director, Youth Services and Sports, Gandhi Nagar, here today. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the implementation of Centrally sponsored scheme Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan Programme in the State.
During the meeting thread bare discussions were also held for the smooth and successful hosting of National School Games in the sports discipline of Badminton (Boys and Girls) in Under 14 years category.
Later on, first contingent for National School Games in the discipline of Kho-Kho U-19 (Girls) team comprising of 12 players and 2 officials were also dispatched to Ujjain (MP) for participation in 60th National School Games. The contingent is accompanied by Rakesh Kumar and Sujata Kumari as General Manager and coach, respectively.
The meeting was attended by Kanchan Bala, Deputy Director, DYSS, Rupinder Jeet Kour, Assistant Director, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj, DYSSO, Jammu, Ayaz Khan, DYSSO Poonch, Dr Swaran Singh, DYSSO Reasi, Sukdev Singh, DYSSO Udhampur, besides other officials of the department.
