Rich tributes paid to martyrs of 1947, 48

JAMMU, Feb 10: Rich tributes were paid to martyrs of 1947 and 48 at a function held at Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra Anandnagar Bohri near here today. A large number of people attended the function.
On the occasion BJP National Executive Member and chief spokesperson of the State, Dr Jitendra Singh was the chief guest on the occasion while Vijay Bakaya NC, MLC was the guest of honour and Prof T N Shalla a well known scholar presided over the function.
Paying rich tributes to the martyrs of 1947 and 48 who laid down their lives during the raid of Pak invaders in various parts of state as well as in erstwhile Baramulla and Kupwara districts, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the Hindus in the state have suffered a lot since the 1947 raid of invaders and their struggle for maintaining national pride in the state is still continue.
He said the seeds of present turmoil in Kashmir which resulted in the mass exodus of Pandits from Valley in 1989-90 were also sown during the 1947 raid of Pak invaders and Pakistan was hell bent to accomplish the task started by it in 1947 after its invaders could not withstood the Indian Army when it landed in J&K and had to beat a hasty retreat.
Assuring full support to Kashmiri Pandits on passage of Shrines and Temples Bill and political empowerment to the community, he said their demands are justified and BJP will raise them in all foras.
Vijay Bakaya while stressing on political empowerment of the community said the KPs have to unitedly struggle for achieving the goal. He however said that Government is fully aware of the problems of the displaced people and many steps were taken by it for mitigating the sufferings of the community.
He however stressed the community to remain united and struggle for their rights jointly.
B L Saraf retired District and Session Judge besides stressing on political empowerment of the community demanded passage of Shrines and Temples Bill and Minority status to community.
President Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra T N Pandita read the welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by J L Bhat incharge Martyrs Committee. Dr Bharti conducted the programme while Chetana Raina read the poem on martyrs.
