Rigzin, Shabir clinch top spots in Ladakh Marathon

LEH, Sept 8: Rigzin Gyurmeth from Special Forces of the Indian Army has clinched first spot in the Ladakh Marathon in the Union Territory here today.
He completed the run by breaking the previous record and finished the world’s highest marathon with the timing of 6 hours 31 Minutes and 41 seconds in Khardung La Challenge 2023 which is 72 kilometers long run. The first runner-up medal went to Jigmet Stobdan from the Ladakh Scouts, while 2nd runner up medal went to Tsewang Namgyal from RIMO expenditure.
In the 122 kilometers long Silk Route Ultra 2023 marathon, Shabir Hussain from the Ladakh Scouts clinched the first spot with a timing of 15 hours and 27 minutes, while 1st runner-up medal went to Tsewang Kundan from Ladakh Scouts.
There were around 6000 runners from different parts of the country participating in the world’s highest marathon.
