LEH, June 15: North West Frontier of ITBP launched 11 days River Rafting Expedition today to be conducted up to June 26, 2018 in the river Indus and Zanskar, between Padum (Zanskar) to Saspol (Leh) of Jammu and Kashmir, covering a distance of approximately 145 kilometers.
The 16-member Expedition team, lead by Rinku Thapa, Second-in-Command and Deputy Leader, Bhagchand Thakur, Deputy Commandant was flagged off by Arvind Kumar, IG NW FTR from the Kumba Hall, situated in the ITBP Garrison at Leh.
Welcoming the guests on the occasion, Manoj Kumar Singh, DIG Srinagar informed that this Rafting Expedition is in the line of the adventurous activities of ITBP and its basic aim is to spread awareness to keep Indus and Zanskar Rivers clean, besides contributing towards the promotion of adventurous activities in Ladakh region.
He further said that ‘Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao’ and ‘Swachcha Bharat’ mission are also part of this Expedition. During the expedition”, the local Population at the halting/ staging points of the expedition will be sensitized on the issues of the national security and general cleanliness of their area.
JP Yadav, DIG Leh and Tashi Namgyal Commandant 37th Bn and the officers of Leh based ITBP Units, besides many civil dignitaries which include` JDD and Deputy Commissioner (SB) were present during the opening ceremony.
