JAMMU, Jan 24: The 3rd Sports Day was celebrated in RM Public School, Jammu amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie.
The school grounds wore a colourful look courtesy handmade decoration by the art and craft department under the leadership of Chandan Chib.
Sunil Kumar Sharma, MoS for Sports, Agriculture with Independent charge of Transport was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman, Sports Council J&K and Member BCCI presided over the function.
Senior journalists Tejinder Singh, Ajay Jandial, Nirmal Panchnanda and Ramesh Gupta, besides ID Soni, Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides, Kamal Gupta, President Pvt School Association, Lalit Magotra, Executive Member Dogri Sansthan and Sharad Khajuria, Ex Assistant Commissioner KVS were among the other prominent personalities who graced the occasion.
Parvinder Kour, Manpreet Kour of sister concern Shiksha Niketan, Jeevan Nagar and Kiran and Rama of sister concern Shiksha Niketan Gandhi Nagar were also present on the occasion.
The program commenced with the presentation of Sapling, Bouquet and Mementoes to the guests preset on he occasion.
This was entailed by lighting of the ceremonial sports flame by the chief guest in presence of President, guests of honour, other special guests, as well as the Chairman of the school, Rameshwar Mengi and Trustee Rita Mengi.
The March Past by the contingent of junior students of four houses Chenab, Jhelum, Tawi and Basantar was delight to watch.
Thereafter the house captains administered the sports oath.
The Trustee of the school Rita Mengi welcomed the guests to the sports day, which is also the celebration of the school’s foundation day.
The programme began with a musical aerobic exercise by the students of 1st class, choreographed by Mr Ajay. This was followed by splendid field displays, involving mass student participation which splattered on the field in form of races and games by penguin paradise, and 1st and 2nd classes including educative games such as search the alphabet and pick the ball race, coordination games such as potato race, hop race and as well as the innovative and entrancing games obstacle race, and 3-leg race and entertaining games dress up race and under the guidance of the Sports teachers Mr. Vipin and Mr. Bittu. The song and dance performance by the young champs of the school enthralled all the audience.
The event ended with a vote of thanks presented by the Principal Ravinder Kour.

The programme concluded with National Anthem.
