Road connectivity Govt’s top priority: DyCM

KATHUA, Oct 17: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that providing road connectivity to all was high on the Government agenda  and efforts are on to connect all habitations with the nearest  urban centers.
Deputy CM was addressing locals after launching the blacktopping work on the remaining 5 km stretch of Dayalachak- Dingaamb-Challain road here today.
Dr Singh said that roads are vital for development of any area and every effort is being made to upgrade the existing network and expand it to the uncovered area.
He said under a special programme started last year, the blacktopping of roads has been resumed in view of suitable season. He said like Dingaamb-Challain work on all roads across the State has been taken up where need is felt for fresh blacktopping.
Referring to the work on the Dingaamb-Challain road, he said  this was a long pending demand of the people of this area which has been fulfilled.
He also took a brief overview of other development activities in the area and directed the officers to meet all the quality standards in development works.
He also called upon the people to avail the benefits under flagship welfare schemes and programmes like Laadli Beti, MGNREGA and Swach Bharat Abhiyan etc to improve their socio economic conditions.
Later, the Dy. CM visited the house of deceased SPO Hemant Kumar and assured his family that the culprits will be put behind the bars. He also assured that the family would be provided every type of help.
DC Kathua Ramesh Kumar, SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar, Addl SP Khalil Poswal , XEN PWD Kathua , SDM Billawar , AEE PWD Kathua and other officers were present on the occasion.
