UDHAMPUR, July 23: Budding fencer Rohan clinched the Gold medal in Under-12 Foil boys category by defeating Danish, who won Silver medal on the second and last day of the District Udhampur Fencing Championship, held at Subhash Sports Stadium, here today.
However, Agman and Animesh won Bronze medals for third and fourth places in the same category.
The 13th Udhampur District Fencing Championship was organized under the auspices of Ad-hoc Committee J&K Amatuer Fencing Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council and District Youth Services Sports Office Udhampur for Under 12, 14, 17, 19 and Open boys and girls competitions.
Social activist and Senior National Volleyball player Swarn Singh Rathore was the chief guest on the occasion, while Raj Kumar Bucha (social activist), Mohd Sarbar (Councillor- Ward No.19), Sanjay Sharma (Deptt. YS&S) and Naveen Sharma, Chief Cricket Coach/Manager were the special guests of the event.
In Under-17 Foil boys, Saksham (Gold), Rampaul (Silver), Samarpreet (Bronze) and Manjot Sharma (2nd Bronze), in Under-19 Foil boys, Ramandeep (Gold), Aryan (Silver), Vishal (Bronze) and Sahil (2nd Bronze), in Under-14 Sabre boys, Saras (Gold), Vansh (Silver) and Shourya (Bronze), in Under-17 Sabre boys, Aditya (Gold), Adarsh (Silver), Rohit (Bronze) and Rishav (2nd Bronze) and in Under 17 Epee boys, Rohit (Gold), Varun (Silver), Keshav (Bronze), and Yasir (2nd Bronze).
In Senior Epee girls, Diksha (Gold), Mannasvi (Silver) amd Surbhi Anthal (Bronze), in Senior Foil girls, Simarleen (Gold), Isha Sharma (Silver) and Pragati Mahajan (Bronze) and in Senior Foil boys, Chahat (Gold), Rahul (Silver), Mohd. Tariq (Bronze) and Mohd Ismail (2nd Bronze), besides in Senior Sabre boys, Vishav Jamwal (Gold), Sourav (Silver) and Senior Epee boys, Anil Sharma (Gold), RajanPrashar (Silver) and Ramneek (Bronze).
Meanwhile, president District Kabaddi Association, Sheikh Tanveer, Suresh Khajuria, president Badminton Association and Sanjay Sharma PET (Organising Sec.), Rtd. Col. Balwant Singh, president of Fencing Association Udhampur, Surbhi Anthal, vice president of Fencing Association Udhampur (National Fencing Player) and many others were present during the event.
About 50 fencers in different age categories participated in the championship.
