Rajouri, May 13: With an aim to encourage students in sports activities and to give them a platform for a healthy competition, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, located at Basoni, under Romeo Force organized Inter Zonal Sports Meet at Govt Higher Secondary School, Harni, here today.
The event witnessed participation of 17 Schools in Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Kabbadi with students participating in two categories of under-14 and under-17 years.
Motivational movies were also screened on both days and a dog show was also organized.
The students liked and appreciated both the events organized by the Indian Army and expressed their gratitude for making the event grand and memorable one. Wasim Ahmed Khan, Sarpanch of Harni thanked the Indian Army for organizing the event.
An Inter School Drawing and Painting Competition for School children of Palma and nearby areas of Rajouri District was also organized by the local Territorial Army Battalion.
300 students and 12 teachers from 10 Schools participated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The competition was organized under three themes, “Save Mother Earth”, “Girl Child Education” & ” Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. All participants put in their best and displayed their artistic skills making the competition a big success.
The event promoted young budding artists. On the occasion, all children were provided with free stationary, painting material and refreshments. The selected participants were also given prizes in various categories.
