JAMMU, Sept 23: Romesh Sharma, a retired Engineer, made a remarkable impact at a national Badminton tournament held in Dehradun. Partnering with Neera Pacricha from Delhi, he clinched the mixed doubles title in the combined age 130+ categories by defeating Ashok Mishra and Savitri from Gujarat in straight games, 21-14, 21-17.
In addition, Sharma was the runner-up in the men’s doubles combined age 120+ category, teaming up with Umesh Aggarwal from Kota, Rajasthan. They faced a tough match against the pair of Ram Lakhan from Punjab and Harjeet Singh from Delhi, losing 8-21, 14-21.
As a gesture of respect, local players honoured Romesh Sharma with a traditional Uttarakhand cap. The tournament saw participation from over 400 players across India, highlighting the competitive spirit and talent in the sport.
