JAMMU, Dec 27: KC Public School is the only school in Jammu & Kashmir to be granted membership of Round Square-a prestigious association of 180 exclusive schools from all over the world who strongly believe in the educational philosophy of Kurt Hahn based on six ideals, namely Democracy, Internationalism, Environme-ntalism, Leadership, Adventure and Service.
A newly constructed Round Square Centre on school campus was inaugurated today morning with a simple ceremony attended by invited parents and presided over by Manav Gupta as the chief guest. He was accompanied by School Chairman Raju Chowdhary and Managing Director Arti Chowdhary.
The ceremony began with cutting of the ribbon by the chief guest at the entrance to the Centre which houses a photo gallery displaying creative work of students and a well-equipped hall used extensively for orientation and training programmes for students and staff and for holding live video conferences with partner schools from all over the world under the aegis of the Round Square and British Council’s International School Awards programme.
The Head Girl of the School Akshita Mengi welcomed the Chief Guest and the invited parents to the function, expressing feelings of joy and pride on being a student of a Round Square school.
After the welcome address, students of the school who have attended numerous Round Square regional, global and international conferences and MUN sessions during 2017 presented their views and experiences and were equivocal in their opinion that the Round Square experience had made them acquire and appreciate a wide range of skills which are well defined in the Round Square Discovery Framework.
Mr Gupta congratulated the school in its achievements through Round Square.
Ribhav Mittal, Round Square Prefect of Students’ Council presented vote of thanks. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
