Royal Challengers Club wins Ramban Cricket League title

RAMBAN, Sept 16: In the final match of the RCL tournament played here at Lambhar ground, Royal Challengers Club after winning the toss and scoring 230 runs for the loss of 5wickets in 20 overs reduced the Victoria Cricket Club (VCC) on 201 for 8 wickets in 20 overs thereby winning the final by 29 runs.
All-rounder, Amir Hamid Wani of RCC was declared the man-of the match as well as the Man -of-the-Series for scoring 430 runs and taking 10 wickets in the tournament.
The General Officer Commanding,CIF(Delta), Maj.Gen. AS Rawat, SM,VSM was the chief guest on the occasion while as the Commander 11.Sector, RR, Brig.KP Singh, DC,Ramban, Bashir Ahmed Dar, SSP, Ramban, Randeep Singh were the guests of honour.
In the tournament organised by the 12 Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of CIF(Delta) as many as 32 teams including 15 from Banihal tehsil, 4 from Ramban and one each from Chanderkot, Ramsu and 12 RR Grenadiers had participated.
In all 16 teams had qualified for the 2nd round and 8 teams for the Super-8 round. After the Super-8 two semi finals were played.
The winning team RCB was given a cheque of Rs. 25,000 and the runners-upRs.15,000 cheque as prize money besides the medals to each player of both teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Maj. Gen.Rawat reiterated that the Army would always be ready to help the youth and the needy of the Ramban district in any eventuality or for any encouragement to youth. Appreciating the talent among the youth of Ramban district he wished best of success to the youth of the district.
