JAMMU, Mar 20: In the wake of the outbreak of COVID -19, the Regional Passport Officer (RPO), NK Shil has advised passport applicants not to visit Passport Office Jammu or Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) at Udhampur, Kathua and Rajouri till April 4.
The RPO stressed that in case of extreme urgency or exceptional or unforeseen cases where travelling abroad is unavoidable applicants may contact control room in RPO Jammu through E-mail: rpo.jammu@mea.gov.in, at Whatsapp no 9988708068 and landline numbers 0191-2451085/2433359.
“Now, Ministry of External Affairs, GoI has lifted the very restriction or limit on the number of rescheduling of appointments for the benefit of the applicants. They can reschedule their appointments multiple times during the one year from the date of first appointment. Availability of appointment slots window has been increased to 90 days calendar”, he informed.
While urging people, the PRO advised that those who were not feeling well or experiencing any symptom of fever, cough, sneezing, respiratory or influenza like problem, difficulty in breathing/senior citizen, pregnant women, kids having underlying medical conditions etc. may, as an extra precautionary measure, also avoid visiting this office.
He advised that the applicants who had travelled abroad or come into physical contact of a person or relatives or family members who had a foreign travel history in the last 3 months should stay away from these offices for the time being.
He said, “those applicants whose cases are of routine or non-urgent nature, they can spend their booking till April 4.Only those visitors whom have proper permission and legitimate business will only be entertained.”
“A control room has been set up at RPO Jammu for addressing all requests, grievances pertaining to submission of passport applications which can be contacted between 9:30 am to 5.00 pm”, he informed.
