REASI, May 4: An adventure camp was organised by the Reasi based Rashtriya Rifles Force to promote tourism and adventure activities in Reasi District.
A large number of students from Government High School Kheral, Government Middle School Upper Sila, Government Middle School Vijaypur, Government Middle School Talwara, besides other local schools participated.
Children from the orphanage at Reasi also participated in the camp. The major highlight of the camp was rafting in Chenab River which was enjoyed by one and all.
The event was graced by the General Officer Commanding, Rashtriya Rifles Force, DC Reasi, members of district administration and entrepreneurs engaged in adventure activities.
Amit Sharma, a well known personality in Reasi said that the Katra which is only 25 km from here attracts roughly one crore tourists every year and our youth have to go there to earn their livelihood.
Vikash a local youth and a budding entrepreneur who conducted a group of students in rafting said, “Each day I sit by the Chenab waiting for tourists to enjoy the world class facilities that exist at Reasi, but only a few tourists stop by.
Meanwhile, Army officials said that such camps help to generate awareness and more such events will be organised in future in conjunction with the Department of Tourism and budding entrepreneurs.
