RRCC thrashes Lucky Club in opening tie of JTP T20

JAMMU, Sept 29: Riding on a magnificent knock of 83 runs by all-rounder Nitin Mehra, RR Cricket Club thrashed Lucky Cricket Club by a huge margin of 119 runs in the Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, which got underway at MA Stadium, here today.
The tournament is being organized by Young Star Cricket Club, under the supervision of the 5-member organizing committee including RK Bhat, Ankush Abrol, Rajesh Dhar, Shashi Paul and Vikram Singh.
The tournament was inaugurated by Ranjeet Kalra, chairman JKCA Media Committee in a simple function, which among others was attended by Rajesh Gill, Rajinder Sharma, Ahtshyam Bhat and Puneet Wattal.
Earlier, put into bat, RRCC, powered by a brilliant knock of 83 runs off 42 balls, studded with 8 fours and 5 sixes, scored a mammoth total of 207 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Abhimanyu and Sunil Sambyal also contributed 32 and 26 runs to the total respectively. For Lucky Club, Zahid Ali captured 4 wickets by conceding 32 runs in his 4 overs, while Pardeep, Sunil and Puneet claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Lucky Club managed to score just 88 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Puneet Nischal and Kartik Gupta scored 12 runs each, Suresh Kumar contributed 11 runs to the total. Sunil Sambyal and Vishal scalped 2 wickets each for RRCC by conceding 9 and 14 runs in their 4 overs respectively, while Nitin Mehra claimed one wicket. Nitin Mehra was adjudged man of the match for his outstanding bowling display.
Jewel Cricket Club will take on Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy in the match of the morning session at the same venue tomorrow, while Vijay Nagar Cricket Club will face Rising Star Cricket Club in the evening session.
