Rs 150 Cr DPR underway for first Tripura SEZ

AGARTALA, Dec 29:Tripura government has laid out a detailed project report (DPR) of Rs 150 Cr for creating an infrastructure for the investors in much ambitious Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Tripura at Jalefa under South Tripura district, about 130 Km from here.
Jalefa, a rural hamlet that falls before the Sabroom town, which is set to be a strategic point in Tripura’s map due to its connectivity with neighbouring Bangladesh, is being decked out with all the required services-electricity, road transport and other amenities for industrial units.
The state government has entrusted the responsibility of developing the area to Tripura Industrial Development Corporation. All the line departments were asked to get involved in infrastructure development activities to make the location well-equipped with all the necessary facilities.
Apart from this, the state government also performed well in terms of wooing investors from outside. According to officials, at least 18 new units have been allotted land in several industrial areas of the state with an expected investment plan of Rs 85.1139 crore with manpower mobilization of 541.
The SEZ will have Duty free import/domestic procurement of goods for development, operation and maintenance of SEZ units, 100 pc Income Tax exemption on export income for SEZ units under Section 10AA of the Income Tax Act for first 5 years, 50 pc for next 5 years thereafter and 50pc of the ploughed back export profit for next 5 years.
