JAMMU, Jan 16: Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Asiea Naqash today said that Union Government has released Rs 2 crore for the preparation of Smart City proposals for the Srinagar and Jammu cities.
While replying to a question of PDP member Mohd Khursheed Alam in the Upper House today, the Minister said that the Union Government has released Rs 2 crore for preparation of Smart Cities proposals for twin capital cities of the State. She said that Rs 1.60 crore has been spent so far on the same.
The Minister informed that the Master Plan for Jammu city has been approved by the State Cabinet while as draft Master Plan for Srinagar city 2035 has been prepared and would be finalized after the scrutiny of objections and suggestions received from the stakeholders by the Committee constituted for the purpose.
Naqash further informed that the Government has prepared a project of Rs 6.44 crore for formulation of GIS based Master Plans under AMRUT for the twin capital cities of the State adding that Rs 2.02 crore and Rs 1.48 crore would be utilized for Srinagar and Jammu cities, respectively.
“The GIS based Master Plans under AMRUT for Srinagar and Jammu cities has been approved by the State Level Technical and State Level Power Steering Committees and stands submitted to the concerned quarter for approval and arrangements of funds,” she maintained.
Alam however, said there was no time frame mentioned. He termed Master Plan as flawed document and alleged that Government was not serious. It has already consumed so much of time. Ramesh Arora also raised supplementary to the main question with regard to involving experts from out side the State in this exercise. The Minister however, maintained that experts from Ahmedabad have been involved for the same.
