Rs 20 cr sanctioned for strengthening healthcare in far-flung areas of Kishtwar: Kichloo

MARWAH (KISHTWAR), Oct 4: Minister of State for Home and I&C, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo today stated that the Government has sanctioned Rs. 20 crore for upgrading Community Health Centre (CHC) in Marwah and construction of additional health-related infrastructure in far-flung and inaccessible areas of the district.
The Minister said this while chairing a meeting of all district officers here to review the present status of healthcare facilities in the district.
The District Development Commissioner, Javed Ahmad Khan, DIG DKR, Ashkoor Wani, SSP Kishtwar, Sanjay Kotwal, ADDC Kishtwar, A S Chib, Chief Medical Officer and other senior officers attended the meeting.
Addressing the officers, the Minister stated that all health centres in the remote areas of the district should have no shortage of doctors, paramedics, medicines and modern machinery so that people don’t have to travel to other places for referrals. He asked the Deputy Commissioner to ensure presence of doctors and other staff under NRHM so that the people are facilitated and provided healthcare at their doorsteps.
Minister announced release of Rs. 10 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for District Hospital Kishtwar to overcome shortage of medicines. “Winter stocking of medicines in remote areas is of paramount importance so that the people do not to suffer in emergencies,” the Minister added.
Highlighting the achievements of the Government in upgrading and improving healthcare infrastructure in remote pockets of the State, Kichloo stated that 20 new First Aid Centres have been sanctioned in Kishtwar at various places including Appan, Sukhnai, Chicha, Janakpur, Dangdoru, Bandarna, Kwar, Bathan, Chicha Nagseni, Kijai, Gulabgarh, Papali, Loseni abd Kundal. He added that PHCs of Dool and Palmar have also been recommended for up-gradation so that better and improved facilities are extended to the people.
The Minister further stated that the Government has already sanctioned creation of 100-bedded additional facility for District Hospital Kishtwar and an independent Eye Block on which the construction work will commence shortly.
Later, at an impressive public function, the Minister dedicated an ambulance to CHC Marwah which will facilitate the patients in referrals in health-related emergencies.
