SRINAGAR, May 12: After the grand success of the event in Jammu, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, SJM Gillani has informed that the Jammu & Kashmir Police is going to conduct “Police Public Cricket Premier League for J&K Cricketers” on the pattern of IPL from June 2, 2015 at Srinagar, with the objective to promote sports culture in the State and provide platform to the cricketers of the State to exhibit their hidden talent .
He said, national cricketers as well as cricketers of Colleges and Universities, apart from the local players will take part in this premier league.
“The corporate companies will be the owners and sponsors of the teams and each team will be composed of 16 members which will include Ranji trophy players, former Ranji trophy players, Under-19 and Under-25 players, University players, College players and the local established players. The owners will have the liberty to furnish the list of 8 key players of their teams and buy other 8 players in the auction.
The tournament will be organized under the overall supervision and Chairmanship of Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar and the total amount of Rs.27.18 lakh will be awarded as the cash prize, including Rs 5 lakh for winners, 3 lakh for runner- team, 2 lakh for third place, 1.5 lakh for 4th place, 1 lakh each for fifth to eighth place, winner in every match Rs.10,000, man of the series Rs 50,000, best batsman Rs.25,000, best bowler Rs.25,000, for scoring fifty runs Rs,5,000, for taking five wickets haul Rs.7000, for scoring a century Rs.15,000, most sixes in a match Rs.2,000, man of the match in every match Rs.3,000 and best catch Rs.1000.
IGP Kashmir further informed that special boarding and lodging arrangements will be made for the participating players.
He invited the teams for sponsorship to become part of this cricketing extravaganza.
Rajesh Gill, former Ranji trophy player and organizing secretary of the tournament intimated to all the interested team owners to get themselves registered by depositing the entry fees by or before May 15. He also said that the two finalists of PPCPL Jammu namely Simula Superstars and BCC Bulls will be the automatic choices for participation in PPCPL Srinagar.
