JAMMU, Sept 25: All J&K Chess Association is going to organize its first ever biggest show in collaboration with J&K Police- “J&K Police FIDE Rating Chess Tournament (U-2000 rating)” at M A Stadium Jammu from October 1 to October 4, 2014.
Total cash prize money for the tournament is Rs.3.lakh.
The opening ceremony will be held at venue on October 1 at 10.30 am followed by 1st round matches. The last date of entry is September 30, 2014 and entry form can be submitted at Hotel Nek Below Gummat Jammu. Players must bring their own chess board.
This was informed by Atul Kumar Gupta president, All J&K Chess Association in a press conference held at Hotel Nek, Below Gummat here today.
Baldev Raj, Rakesh Gupta vice presidents and Taranvir Singh Gujral coordinator and also chief organizing secretary of the event were also present on the occasion.
They said that this is a great opportunity and platform for J&K State players as they will get chance to play with players of 15 different States of India and also get a chance to achieve FIDE Rating. Association has set a self target of creating atleast five international masters within 4-5 years.
The tournament will be played as per FIDE Laws of Chess under swiss system in which total nine rounds will be played.
There are special prizes of Rs.43000 for players of J&K State in different categories besides special prizes for veterans and unrated players also.
