Rs 97 cr being spent on rehabilitation of 285 affected shopkeepers

JAMMU, Mar 4: The Government today said that nearly 285 shopkeepers/ traders have been affected with the construction of  Jehangir Chowk- Rambagh Flyover Project in Srinagar and  Rs 97 crore is being spent on  rehabilitation complexes and their resettlement.
In a written reply to the question of  NC member Dharambir Singh in the Upper House today, the Minister charge Planning said that the Technical Bid Evaluation Report (TBER) for the flyover project from Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh stands approved by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the month of  December, 2012. The price bids of  responsive  bidders were opened in January this year and the Price Bid Evaluation Report (PBER) also stands submitted to ADB for accord of approval.
Replying to another question, the Planning Minister said that the approval for award of contract has been linked by ADB with the rehabilitation of shopkeepers affected due to construction of  flyover. The award of contract is expected in April this year. Thereafter, the  work will be started on the project.
Responding to yet another question, the Minister said the ADB has also linked the approval of  PBER with the rehabilitation of 285 shopkeepers affected due to construction.   A total Rs 97 crore is being spent for rehabilitation, compensation etc. 99 traders have already been settled in the Cheap and Kabadi market near Central Market, Srinagar.  152 shopkeepers are proposed to the settled in the Jehangir Chowk rehabilitation complex with construction of 120 shops. Another 72 shops are under construction at Rambagh complex. An amount of Rs 60 crore has already been spent on it, he added.
