NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha today condemned the terrorist attack on innocent Amarnath pilgrims on July 10 and reiterated its resolve to fight terrorism. Soon after the House met on the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament, Chairman Hamid Ansari read out a reference to the terrorist attack on Amarnath pilgrims.
“The terrorist attack on the Amarnath pilgrims was inhuman and a barbaric act. No words are strong enough to condemn the barbaric, cowardly and senseless act of violence. The occasion calls for reiterating the resolve to fight terrorism,” Dr Ansari said.
The House also appreciated the resilient attitude of the people for continuing with the pilgrimage. Eight people died and several others were injured after the terrorists attacked a bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims on July 10.
The Members also condoled the loss of lives of 16 Amarnath pilgrims in a bus accident in Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday and also prayed for early recovery of those injured.
As a mark of respect, the House observed silence in memory of the departed .(AGENCIES)
