NEW DELHI, Mar 12: The Rajya Sabha on Thursday paid homage to its former members Hansraj Bhardwaj and Dr Ranbir Singh.
At the start of the proceedings, Speaker M Venkaiah Naidu informed the House about the demise of both former members. Members observed silence and paid warm tributes to both departed members.
Earlier, Mr Naidu told that Bhardwaj died on March 8. He was born on May 17, 1937 in Sonepat, Haryana. He was elected to the House from Madhya Pradesh from 1982 to 1996. He was also the Law Minister at the Centre and later the Governor of Karnataka and Kerala. Mr Naidu described him as an eminent lawyer, administrator and qualified Parliamentarian.
Mr Naidu said Dr Ranbir Singh died at the age of 91 in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. He was a member of the House from April 1994 to April 2000. He was a qualified parliamentarian and educationist, he said. (UNI)
