JAMMU, Aug 29: RS Pura zone sailed into the finals of the Under-19 girls volleyball and kabaddi events in the ongoing Jammu District Inter-Zonal Tournaments in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Government Higher Secondary School, Domana, here.
Over 250 players drawn from various zones of Jammu district are taking part in the tournament, which is as part of annual calendar of activities of the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
Earlier, in kabaddi Under-19 girls semifinals, RS Pura zone trounced Jammu zone by 15 points, while Akhnoor zone outplayed Arnia by the same margin.
In volleyball semifinals, RS Pura prevailed upon Akhnoor by two sets to nil (2-0), while Bhalwal also outclassed Jammu by (2-0)
Meanwhile, in kho-kho Under-19 girls, Bhalwal zone will take on Akhnoor zone in the finals, as Bhalwal defeated Jammu by 6 points, while Akhnoor outclassed Gandhi Nagar by 8 points in the semifinal clashes. In other matches of kho-kho Under-19 girls, Akhnoor drubbed Arnia by 13 points, Jammu overpowered Jourian by 4 points and Gandhi Nagar scripted a narrow win over RS Pura by one point.
