JAMMU, Oct 6: Riding on brilliant performances by the explosive Rubia Syed and stylish and composed Shivanti Gupta, coupled with valuable contribution with the willow at crucial juncture by gritty and gutsy Chitra Jamwal and with the ball by the consistent duo of artistic Sarla Devi and skipper Sandhya Sayal, well-knit Jammu and Kashmir scripted a super 8-wicket victory over young but strong side of Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing practice matches as part of JKCA’s Preparatory Camp for Senior Women’s T20 Team at JKCA Hostel ground, here today.
Chasing a decent target of 123 runs set by Himachal Pradesh; J&K sailed on a power-packed innings of unbeaten 41-ball 53 runs by charismatic Rubia Syed and sublime 36-ball 35 runs by batting mainstay Shivanti Gupta and surpassed it in 19.3 overs, losing 2 wickets in the process.
Rubia was at her murderous best, sending the bowlers on a leather-hunt, hitting 4 fours and 3 massive sixes, while Shivanti showed elegance, sublimity, composure and promise in her knock, hitting 5 crispy boundaries. Chitra Jamwal also held her nerves in the crunch situation and played a magnificent unbeaten innings of 20 runs off 21 balls, proving to be a perfect partner for dangerous Rubia. Opening batter Anju Tomar also contributed 11 off 19 balls with 2 delectable boundaries.
For Himachal Pradesh, Ranjana and Sakshi took 1 wicket each. Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Himachal Pradesh scored a decent total of 122 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Shivani Singh top scored with 32 runs off
34 balls, studded with 3 boundaries, while Sonal Thakur, Pooja Negi and Vandana Rana contributed 29, 20 and 18 runs to the total respectively. For Jammu and Kashmir, left-arm medium pacer Sarla Devi was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 2 wickets by conceding 7 runs in her 4 overs including 2 maidens, while right-arm off-spinner Sandhya Sayal also took 2 wickets by giving away 21 runs in her 4 overs. Left-arm spinner Nadia Chowdhary also claimed one wicket.
The match was officiated by Deepak Gupta and Sapna Jamwal as Umpires, while Ashwani Sharma was the scorer. The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Rajesh Dhar and Rajni Sharma as Managers, while Chetan B Dhingra is the Head Coach and Nayna Kashyap as the Bowling Coach. Satika Sharma is the Trainer, while Lovely Bansal and Mujtaba Wani are the Physiotherapist and Video Analyst respectively.
Member-Administration JKCA, Brig Anil Gupta witnessed the match to encourage the players, while CAC Member JKCA, Roopali Slathia and JKCA Senior Women Selectors–Surabhi Dhadeechi and Ankita Jalla were also present.
