Ruhullah inaugurates cricket tourney

SRINAGAR, May 27: Minister for Science, Technology, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, inaugurated the Shaheed Aga Syed Mehdi Memorial Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Sports Stadium, here today.
64 teams drawn from all over Kashmir Valley are participating in the tournament, in which the inaugural match was played between Aga Ruhullah XI and Budgam Police XI.
Speaking on the occasion, Ruhullah assured the organizers of every possible support for polishing the talent of the youth and called for providing congenial sports infrastructure for the same.
The Inspector General of Police, SM Sahai, DDC Budgam Khursheed Ahmad Shah, DIG CK, Syed Afad-Ullah Mustafa, Secretary Sports Council Kiran Wattal, SSP Budgam Uttam Chand and large number of sports lovers and students were present on the occasion.
The Budgam cricket tournament organised by J&K Police was today inaugurated by MOS Aga Ruhullah Mehdi at Bugam Stadium. The tournament is being held every year since last 10 years. This year the tournament is being organised by J&K Police.
Inspector General of police SM Sahai was the Guest of Honour, who while addressing the players and people attending the inaugural function said that J&K police will sponsor the talented cricketers for training in reputed cricket academies of the country. IGP added that the youth of the Valley are talented enough to compete at national and international levels and J&K police is eager to hone and nurture this talent by organizing such sports activities. He further said that J&K police will sponsor talented cricketers for specialized training in reputed cricket academies so that we could see some of these talented youth find ways to play in IPL.
