BHADERWAH, Oct 8: Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles unit based at Bhaderwah organised ‘Run for Peace’ Half- Marathon here today.
The half marathon was a part of Youth Festival Sangam-2023 in which 300 students including 110 girls from 20 colleges and seven satellite campuses of Jammu University participated.
The marathon was held under three different categories such as 21km, 10km and 5 km respectively from Bhaderwah Campus. The basic motive behind the marathon is spread the message of peace by making youths as ambassadors and also promote sports among the youth of the region and to provide them a recreational activity in order to channelize and harness their energy in a constructive manner.
The youth, especially girls participated with great enthusiasm. Samta Devi (19) a student of Government Degree College, Ramban stunned her male counterparts by clinching the top position in 5km category clocking just 25 minutes and 7 seconds.
