‘Saahas’ self-defence workshop witnesses huge participation of women

JAMMU, Dec 12: Hundreds of girl students from schools and colleges participated in ‘Saahas’, a workshop for self defence organized by Artveda Creative Solutions Pvt. Ltd in association with Vivo Health Care, Fun Scoop and G-tech group.
It was organized at GGM Science College, Canal road during which several programmes were staged to highlight the need for women to protect themselves from sexual harassment which is common, faced by women in every aspect these days.
With motto of, “Proud of Being Parents of a Daughter Now Make Your Daughter Proud of Her Parents”, the aim was to create awareness among the masses that daughters are not weak and they contribute much to the development of society and shaping the future of nation.
“There was huge response to the workshop and girl students from different educational institutions took part in the event. It is a good sign as there is need to create awareness among them. It is an effort to empower the girls”, said Programme Director, Sahil Chopra.
During the event different session were planned which include focus area of health and sanitation, self defence demonstration, women empowerment and financial independence seminar, particularly related to women.
A live concert of Gurdev Singh and Shubhdeep was staged and legends dance group performed and Dr. R.K Chopra delivered a lecture on Health, Sanitation and Efficiency. Sameer Andotra held self defence demonstration which was appreciated by the participants. The event was organised from 11 am to 4 pm. The event started with lightning of traditional lamp by dignitaries.
Those who were present on the occasion include senior Journalist, Sohail Kazmi, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides, ID Soni and J&K Sports Council Secretary Jenab Javed Shah. The certificates will be given through online mode.
