KATHUA, Feb 2: Sabi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur and Amritsar Cricket Club defeated their rivals to enter into the next round of the ongoing 5th Police Martyrs Memorial Inter-Club North Zone T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by J&K Police Department and sponsored by Shaheed Welfare Committee at Sports Stadium, here.
In the first match, Sabi CC defeated J&K Police XI by 4 wickets. Batting first, JKP XI scored a modest total of 123 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Shashi top scored with 42 runs, while Satish contributed 18 runs to the total. For Sabi Club, Chetan took 3 wickets, while Suraj and Abhinav bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, Sabi Club chased the target in 18.4 overs by losing 6 wickets, thus won the match by 4 wickets. Tarun (35) and Davinder (31) were the main contributors. For JKP XI, Aman and Kuldip claimed one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Anoop Sharma, Mohan Lal and Ram Lubaya, while Rajesh Gupta was the match referee.
In another match played today, Amritsar Cricket Club thrashed Kathua Cricket Club by a huge margin of 108 runs. Batting first, Amritsar Club scored a mammoth total of 207 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma was the top scorer with 84 runs, while Mohit Honda scored valuable 61 runs. Arush also contributed 23 runs to the total. For Kathua Club, Sapnath bagged 3 wickets, while Tarun and Sheetal claimed 2 and one wickets respectively.
In reply, Kathua Club was bundled out for 99 runs to lose the match by 108 runs. Sandeep, Toto and Shallu contributed with 23, 12 and 11 runs respectively. For Amritsar Club, Sunny and Rohit bagged 2 wickets each, while Abhishek claimed one.
