Sacrifices of jawans cannot be forgotten: DGP

JAMMU, Feb 23: The day long 24th Police Public Mela held at Police Sports Stadium Gulshan Ground was inaugurated by Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad here this morning.
Amid great enthusiasm, after lighting the traditional lamp, the chief guest described the event as a bridge between police and public, saying that such events provide an opportunity to the people as well as police to assemble and interact with each other. He appreciated the efforts of J&K Police Parivar for organizing such Melas in a befitting manner since years, which has strengthened the Police Public Relations at grass root level.
Mr. Prasad disclosed that the event also provides an opportunity to remember and memorize the sacrifices of jawans and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police, which they offered while ensuring the security and safety of the people. He said that during the years of turmoil JKP families suffered a lot, as a number of our jawans and officers laid down their lives for the integrity of the State. He stressed that the sacrifices offered cannot be forgotten and it is prime duty of the Police Parivar to take care of their families.
During the Mela, for the first time, 60 stalls were established by different police units and products of different regions of the State were put for sale to the public. People from all shades of life showed their keen interest in purchase of these items and the children enjoyed the amusement items during the day long Mela. Painting competition for the children was also conducted in the Mela and prizes were distributed among the winners of the competition. Cultural groups presented different items which were enjoyed by the people. Tambola was also the main attraction for the people in the Mela.
Earlier, the Chairperson, J&K Police Parivar, Kiran Prasad, briefed about the objectives for organizing such Melas.
In the evening, results of raffle draw were announced. The draw was held in presence of large gathering of men, women and children.
Small children drawn from the gathering picked the lucky numbers for prizes of different categories in presence of Chairperson, J&K Police Parivar, Kiran Prasad, senior police officers and lady members of Parivar.
The bumper prize (Swift Dzire Car) with family pack 11 items was won by raffle draw ticket number C-32838. The first prize (six Nissan Cars) were won by ticket numbers A-30238, B-16950, C-08755, D-57522, E-96948 and F-20779. 2nd prize (six Alto Cars-800) were bagged by ticket numbers A-04997, B-97378, C-03100, D-42413, E-36810 and F-86940. The 6th prize (six LED CTV 32″) goes to ticket number A-14288, B-69884, C-92809, D-01005, E-69439 and F-50608. The 7th prize (six Laptops) goes to ticket numbers A-77667, B-80778, C-90324, D-02905, E-82292 and F-19602. The 8th prize (six AC 1.5 Ton) won by ticket numbers A-43606, B-80106, C-33158, D-81453, E-83226 and F-65511. The 9th prize (six Tabs) were bagged by ticket numbers A-48238, B-04471, C-85293, D-06169, E-55152 and F-25018. The 10th prize (six Washing Machines) were bagged by ticket numbers A-36370, B-32486, C-68110, D-55523, E-23057 and F-39836. The 11th Prize, (six cash prizes of Rs.5000) goes to tickets numbers of series having 5 digits 92228. Accordingly 12th prize, (60 Cash prizes of Rs.1000) goes to ticket numbers with their last four digits 1238.
Likewise 13th prize (600 cash prizes of Rs.500) goes to tickets having last three digits 709.
Among others, the Mela was attended by MLA Rashpal Singh, MLCs Devender Rana, Jehangir Hussain Mir, ADGPs, K Rajendra Kumar, PL Gupta, SP Vaid, DR Doley, Navin Aggerwal, VK Singh, SM Sahai, former DGP, M M Khajuria, lady members of Police Parivar and other senior police and civil officers.
