JAMMU : Situation in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir remained tense but under control on second day of the alleged sacrilegious act.
However, curfew-like restrictions have been lifted and the Jammu-Kathua national highway is through for traffic.
“So far, the situation is under control but tension prevails,” a senior police official here today said.
He said that police and para-military forces are on job and deployed along the highway to keep watch on the situation and prevent any untoward incident.
“There are no restrictions and traffic is smoothly plying on the highway,” he added.
The situation is being monitored. Protest sparked last evening in Samba district when a slaughtered cattle was found along the roadside near Raya Morh of village Jakh in Samba. Protestors pelted stones at the police party and torched official vehicles of Deputy Commissioner, Samba.
