Sadhbhawna Badminton C’ship begins

BHADERWAH, Oct 5: To promote sports and to groom the hidden and raw talent of hills, the Sadhbhawna sub division level Badminton Championship was inaugurated here by Commander 4 Sector RR Brig. Rohit Nautiyal.
The sporting event is aimed at to promote sports among youth, especially Badminton in rural areas and to give talented youth an opportunity to show their skills at a bigger platform.
The Badminton Championship in which 65 male and 36 females will compete in three categories including under 18, female league and open challenge,  was inaugurated today at Boys Higher Secondary School, here.
“We are heading towards new era of normalcy which reciprocates in development and increasing sporting events in Chenab Valley,” Brig Nautiyal said adding our people have rendered sacrifices for the restoration of peace in this area.
Match referee and senior PET Murtaza Qadir said that such events not only encourage young players but also portray a soft image of the Bhaderwah Valley as well as the entire Chenab region”.
“At least 110 players are expected to participate in the Sadhbhawna Badminton Championship which is being held after a hiatus of several years,” Murtaza added.
The inaugural match was played between  Rubina of GDC Bhaderwah and Radhika Wazir of  Kendriya Vidyalaya, which Radhika won by 25 -24 and 25 -20. In the second match Safina of GDC Bhaderwah beat Muskan of Kendriya Vidyalaya.
Other prominent dignitaries who were present during the inauguration of the  championship include, CO 4RR  Col Ravi Kumar, Lt Col Paramjeet Singh, Principal Annie Kotwal, ZPEO Pritam Singh, Rana Aarif  and others.
