Sadhotra for strict implementation of labour laws

SRINAGAR, Sept 12: The 13th meeting of the Regional Board Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) was held here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Labour, Employment and Planning, Ajay Sadhotra.
Commissioner/ Secretary Labour and Employment, B. A. Runiyal Labour Commissioner Inayatullah, Administrative Medical Officer, ESI, J&K, State Medical Commissioner, ESI Corporation, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu, President Chamber of Commerce and Industries Srinagar, President Association of Small Scale Industries Gangyal and other Board members were present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed various matters relating to starting of Model ESI Dispensary and Diagnostic Centre at Khanmoh Srinagar, setting up of ESI dispensaries at Samba, Katra, Udhampur for improvement of medical benefits and establishment of ESI hospital at Ompora and Kathua.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister impressed upon the officers to extend adequate medical facilities to the employees working in private establishments and ensure their betterment, so that this class of society lives a dignified and healthy life.
Emphasizing for enforcement of labour laws strictly by the industrialists of the State, Mr. Sadhotra asked ESIC authorities to implement the laws with a sense of persuasion and goodwill.
The Minister directed for organising awareness camps both for employees and employers about the benefits of ESI scheme.
Advocating for decentralizing the powers of ESI authorities, the Minister urged for making delivery and payment system effective, so that the beneficiaries get timely relief and compensation from ESI.
The meeting also discussed availability of Government land and building for ESIC Regional Office, Branch Offices and Dispensaries as long term plan to create better infrastructure for service delivery. Expanding of outreach of ESIC to the areas adjoining to present implemented areas such as areas surrounding Jammu Municipal limit, along National Highway from Sarore to Samba and implementation of ESI scheme at new areas like Lassipora in Kashmir division also came under discussion.
