JAMMU, Feb 5: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, J&K, S M Sahai took over the charge of working President of Hockey J&K, yesterday.
The decision to appoint him as president was taken by Hockey J&K in view of his past affiliation and interest in promotion of Sports in the State.
Soon after assuming the charge, Mr Sahai called a meeting to review the progress of the game. He said that J&K Police has always been at the forefront in promotion of Sports in the State and he will work to carry forward the spirit of the organization, adding that as president of Hockey J&K, he will work for vigorous, robust and sustainable development of both Men’s and women’s Hockey in the State.
During the meeting members of association put forth their agendas and suggestions for improvement of the game.
The ADGP said that for promotion of Hockey in the State upliftment of the game at the grass-root level is mandatory, adding that the Association will look for innovative ways and ideas to introduce and explore sport to youngsters.
The meeting was attended by Mukesh Singh, IGP, Associate vice president Hockey J&K, general secretary, Romal Singh, secretary G S Bakshi, resident secretary M S Reen, treasures Rajinder Singh and Sports Officer J&K Police, Kuldeep Handoo.
