Sahil Singh of IDS bags sprint gold; PG Deptt wins overall C’ship

JAMMU, Feb 15: Sahil Singh of IDS, Jammu claimed gold in 100 meters sprint, while PG Department, University of Jammu won the overall championship in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Annual Athletic Meet, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity ground, here.
Manoj Singh of PG Department, University of Jammu clinched silver in this category, while the bronze went to Amit Sharma of PG Department.
In 200 mts boys, Kaushal Sharma of MBS CET bagged gold, while the silver and bronze medals went to Ankit Sharma of New Age and Ankush Saini of GDC Kathua respectively.
Rakesh Kumar of GDC Samba bagged gold in 500 meters, while Vikas Saini of GGM Science College and Vijay Sharma of PG Department claimed silver and bronze medals respectively.
In high jump boys, Rajan Kumar of GGM Science College bagged gold, Aman Sambyal of PG Department won silver, while the bronze medal was shared by Harshdeep Singh of MBS CET, Masood Ahmed of MAM College and Sahil Singh Chib of IDS respectively.
The 4×400 relay gold went to Aman Sambyal, Jagdev Singh, Goutam Sharma and Vikesh Kumar of PG Department, while the silver medal was bagged by Ayaz Ahmed, Rajan Kumar, Anil Kumar and Arun Sharma of GGM Science College and the bronze medal was claimed by Yasser Ayaz, Naresh Singh, Nandishwar Sharma and Ankit Sharma. PG Department claimed overall championship in men’s section by securing 68 points, while GGM Science College remained runners-up with 41 points and the third place went to GDC Samba, bagging 18 points.
Meanwhile, in 100 meters girls, Neeru Manhas of GCW Parade won gold, Kamaljeet Kour of PG Department bagged silver and Pooja Sharma of GCW Parade claimed bronze, meanwhile in 200 meters girls, the same trio claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In 500 meters girls, Suchi Devi, GDC Kathua, Ekta Rani, PG Deptt and Bhavna Koul, PG Department claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In 4×100 meters girls, Monika Chalotra, Suman Lata, Kamaljeet Kour and Mamta Sharma of PG Department bagged gold, while Shifali Bhau, Neeru Manhas, Pooja Sharma and Khatoon Bibi of GCW Parade claimed silver and the bronze medal went to Neetu Devi, Pooja, Priya Koul and Jasvinder Kour of GCW Gandhi Nagar.
Suman Lata and Sagita Bhat, both from PG Department bagged gold and silver in high jump girls, while the bronze medal in this event went to Shallu Bala of GCW Parade.
The overall championship in women section went to PG Department by scoring 63 points, while GCW Parade and GDC Samba bagged second and third spot by securing 33 and 19 points respectively.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director Sports and Physical Education, Dr Sonam Angchok, Brij Baloria, Romesh Sharma, Romesh Magotra, Jai Bharat and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
