JAMMU, Nov 5: Stephens International Public School Jammu organised ‘Inter-School Folk Dance Competition-Nritya-Kala’ under the aegis of Sahodaya Schools Complex Jammu, here today.
The event was organised to offer a platform to all dance enthusiasts who are passionate about the folk dances of the country.
22 reputed schools of Jammu region participated in the competition. The programme started with the lighting of lamps, followed by a riveting ‘Ganesh Vandana’ performed by the students of the School.
Amarjeet Singh, Vice-Chairperson of the host School graced the occasion as chief guest while Kunal Saini, trustee Stephens International Public School and Director Stephens Institutes of Nursing College was the guest of honour for the event. The special guest for the occasion was Seema Sambyal, Principal Holy Presentation Convent Kathua.
The panel of jury included renowned dance masters and choreographers of Jammu like Anil Gupta (Director Friends Dance Institute), Ashu Kotwal (renowned choreographer) and Sonu Taneja (MD Jazz Boss Records).
Principal of the School, Rama Jamwal, Vice-Principal of the School Dr Kaajal Bhasin, and HM Shweta Bakshi extended bouquets as a welcome gesture to all the dignitaries.
Kunal Saini stressed on the importance of culture and the need to establish the appreciation for our traditions and culture in the hearts of the new generation and reinforce the same by organising more such events.
The first prize was bagged by APS Jammu Cantonment, while the second prize was shared by Stephens International Public School and GD Goenka School and DPS Kathua clinched 3rd place. The first and second consolation prizes were given to Presentation Convent School Jammu and Doon International School Jammu respectively.
The chief guest and the jury members handed over the trophies and certificates to the winning schools and the participants respectively. The event concluded with singing of the National Anthem.
