JAMMU, Nov 25: Indian Wushu team bagged 6 medals, with 2 silver and 4 bronze in the 12th World Wushu Championship at Malaysia recently, was prepared in the long coaching camps, organised by Wushu Association of India in three phases at SAI Bhopal and Gulmarg in Kashmir.
For this landmark achievement, the Director General of Sports Authority of India, JIJI Thomson felicitated the team in an impressive and well attended function at his Headquarter at New Delhi and he assured all support to the players for the forthcoming 17th Asian Games at Incheon in Korea to be held in August, 2014.
The function was attended by ED Finance, Hira Ballabh, Project Officer Wushu and general secretary WAI, Manish Kacker.
The medallists included Sanathoi Devi and Pooja Kaddian (silver).
Santosh Kumar, Chandra Singh, Rajan Deori and W Sandhya Rani, Arjun Awardee (bonze).
The team was given warm welcome at the International Airport New Delhi by the office bearers of the Wushu Association of India. Bhupender Singh Bajwa, president Wushu Association of India and HK Lohia, chairman North Zone Development Committee WAI.
