JAMMU, Aug 23: The 49th Raising Day of Sainik School Nagrota was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour in the school, commemorating the inauguration of this school by Shri Jagjivan Ram, the then Defence Minister of India on August 22, 1970. The celebrations began with a colourful ceremonial parade at Maj Somnath Sharma, PVC Stadium led by the School Captain Achyut Gupta in which 450 cadets of the school took part.
Capt A Muthuraman, Principal reviewed the parade and acknowledged the salute.
In his address, the Principal paid rich tributes to all the earlier Principals and recounted the challenges braved by the school to achieve success and reputation over 48 years of its history. The Principal also exhorted the cadets and staff to imbibe core values and ethics which form the foundation of the institution.
The second session began with an exciting exhibition cricket match between staff and the cadets’ team which was followed by the ever so thrilling inter-house tug-of-war competition.
The staff also put their stamina to test by jumping into the fray.
Many other interesting sporting events were also organized for the staff and children to add colour and fun to the occasion. The third phase of celebration was held at the School Auditorium where various clubs put up a sensational display of creative ideas on the stage that included group song recitals, PowerPoint Presentation, Group dance, Instrumental music and a Nukkad Natak.
The children and the staff presented a talent show exhibiting their skills in a variety of items to add splendour and grace to the occasion.
