JAMMU, July 7: Sainik School Nagrota has emerged as champions in the Volleyball and Runners-up in Basketball competitions in the ongoing All India Inter Sainik Schools National Games group level selection round held at Sainik School Sujanpur Tira, Himachal Pradesh.
The Sainik School (SS) Nagrota fielded a contingent of 51 Cadets in Volleyball, Basketball and Hockey besides select athletic events for both boy and girl cadets in the ongoing tournament which commenced from July 3. Taking firm control right from day one, the Volleyball and Basketball teams progressed to the finals convincingly beating Sainik School Kapurthala, Sainik School Kunjpura and Sainik School Sujanpur Tira teams in consecutive matches. While the Volleyball team made a clean sweep by winning all the matches. The school Basketball team fought hard against Sainik School Kunjpura before ending up as first runners up. On the athletics front, girl cadets bagged their maiden bronze medal in 4 x 100 meter relay. Captain, AK Desai, Principal, applauded the teams for putting up an excellent show of sportsmanship in the tournament.
