Sainik School Nagrota stages SPICMACAY Kathak performance

NAGROTA, Aug 2: With an aim to create awareness and a deep sense of appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of India, Sainik School Nagrota institutionalized SPICMACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) in 2018 and has been organizing music and dance programmes for the cadets to imbibe the essence of classical art forms.
Vidushi Rani Khanam, a Kathak artist of international repute presented a classical dance performance amidst great cheer and applause from the young cadets of the school on the other day.
During her presentation that lasted for one hour, Mrs Khanam explained to the cadets about the origin, gharanas, details of various classical dance forms and other nuances of Kathak.
She also made the event very educative and interesting by involving the cadets during the presentation. She was accompanied by Shakeel Ahmed on Tabla, Saeed-ur-Rahman on Sarangi and on Vocal by Shuheb Hasan.
Expressing deep appreciation for the performance, Capt A Muthuraman, Principal urged the cadets to develop a strong penchant for art in order to imbibe qualities that would make them gentlemen in future.
He also expressed his gratitude to Dr Sapna Sangra, State Chairperson, SPIC MACAY and to Shahbaz Alam TGT for the successful conduct of the event.
