*HSS Sawjian wins in Volleyball, HS Jhulas in Kabaddi

JAMMU, May 10: Sainik School Nagrota claimed Under-14 and Under-17 boys Basketball titles and KC International School emerged winner in Netball finals in the District Level Inter-School Tournaments of Jammu district, while Nitika and Kanika bagged Badminton titles and HSS Sawjian won Volleyball summit clash and HS Jhulas claimed Kabaddi title in the Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments of Hiranagar, Mandi and Kanuyian Zones of Districts Kathua and Poonch respectively.
Inter-School District Level Tournaments for boys in the disciplines of Basketball, Throw Ball and Netball, under the age group of 14 and 17 for the year 2018-19 of District Jammu concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium and Dogra Ground, here.
In all, 457 boys drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu District took part in the competitions.
Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the Organising Secretary of the tournament. The main objective of the competitions was to select the teams of Jammu District for Inter District competitions.
In Basketball Under-14 boys final, Sainik School Nagrota beat APS Sunjwan by 34-33 points, while in semifinals, APS Sunjwan drubbed Heritage Public School by 18-05 points and Sainik School Nagrota defeated the rival by 24-02 points.
In Basketball Under-17 boys summit clash, Sainik School Nagrota trounced APS Ratnu Chak by 46-35 points to win the title.
In Netball Under-17 boys title clash, KC International prevailed over DPS Jammu in a close contest by 1 point, while in Throw Ball Under-17 boys final, KC International defeated GD Goenka Public School.
Nikita Raina and Kanika Verma of Government Girls High School Hiranagar and Infant Jesus Higher Secondary School Hiranagar won the titles of under 17 and 14 years Badminton trophies in ongoing Inter School Zonal Level Tournament of Zone Hiranagar, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua, Subash Chander Bhardwaj and under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Hiranagar Yog Raj Sharma at Government Higher Secondary School Marheen.
In final match of Badminton Under-17 girls category, Nikita Raina of Government Girls High School Hiranagar defeated Pallavi of the same school by 2-1 sets. Earlier, Pallavi outplayed Kannu Sharma of Infant Jesus Higher Secondary School Hiranagar by 2-0 sets in 1st semifinal and in second semifinal Nikita outplayed Pooja Devi of Government Girls High School Kootah by 2-0 sets.
In final of Under-14 years girls category Kanika Verma of Infant Jesus Higher Secondary School Hiranagar defeated Sonali of Government Middle School to Tuthachack by 2-0 sets.
Earlier, Kanika outplayed Komal Devi of her own school by 2-0 sets in 1st semifinal and in second semifinal, Sonali outplayed Srishti of her own school by 2-0 sets.
Annual Inter School competition of Kanuyian Zone got underway in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball at Govt H S Mangnar in Poonch.
The competition was declared open by the Headmaster High School Mangnar, Rattan Lal in a well attended function.
The event is being held under the supervision of Zonal Officer, S. Narjeet Singh.
In Kabaddi U-17 boys, HS Jhulas beat HS Khaneter by 1 point, while in Kabaddi U-17 girls, HS Jhulas outplayed HS Mangnar by two points.
In Volleyball Under-17 boys, HS Kanuyian beat HS Mangnar by 2-0 sets, while in Volleyball Under-17 girls, HS Jhulas beat HS Kanuyian by 2-0 sets.
Kho Kho U17 boys- HS DARA DULLIAN beat HS Kanuyian by 3 points and in Kho-Kho Under-17 girls, HS Mangnar defeated HS Jhulas by 4 points.
Annual Inter-School (boys and girls Under- 17) competition of Mandi Zone concluded at HSS Boys Mandi under the supervision of DYSSO Poonch and supervised by ZPEO Mandi, Veerta Devi.
Principal Girls HSS Mandi, S. Jagdev Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
Also present on the occasion were Principal HSS Boys Mandi, S. Rashpal Singh, ZPEO Sathra Zone, S Surinder Singh, Rajesh Sharma, S. Ranjit Singh and Rajinder Prasad.
Earlier, in Volleyball section, HSS Sawjian beat HS Bedar by 3-0 sets, while in Kabaddi, HSS Boys Mandi beat HSS Loran by 10 points.
In Girls section, Girls HSS Mandi defeated HSS Sawjian by 4 points.
The technical panel comprised of S. Rajinder Singh, S. Sukhbir Singh, Amrish Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Balbir Singh, Harmik Singh, Rajinder Singh, Jatinder Paul Sharma, Rajnish Maini and Shabir.
