SRINAGAR, May 28: The budding athlete, Mohammad Saleem Wani who plays for Damna Adventurers emerged winner in the 5th J&K Bank Run for Shahr-e-Khaas (Old City) held here today.
The event was organized by J&K Sports Development Association in Collaboration with JK Bank and Tourism Department Kashmir.
The run that was flagged off by Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir Mahmood Ahmad Shah saw around 1200 athletes hailing from different parts of the valley participating in it.
The competition was held in two categories of open boys Under-17 group.
Run started from TRC Ground near JK Bank Corporate house and culminated at Islamia College after passing via MA Road, Munawarabad, Baba Demb, Bohri Kadal, Rajouri Kadal and Gojwara Chowk.
In the open category, Muhammad Saleem made an upset win one was expecting Muzaffer Maqbool to make hattrick of victories. Hamid of Islamia College finished second while as Muzaffer had to satisfy with third place. Tanveer Hussain of J&K bank finished fourth while as Umair bagged fifth.
In the Under-17, category, Umer Hameed Dar of Budgam finished first while as Ifshan finished second. M Yaqoob finished third while as Zubair Wani finished fourth. Umar Farooq finished fifth.
Director Tourism and MD JKTDC, Farooq Ahmad Shah was chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes among the winners.
