Saman Bal to deliberate challenges before Kashmiri culture, language

JAMMU, Mar 12: Challenges being faced by Kashmiri language and culture will be focus of deliberations during the Saman Bal, 2015 beginning here from March 14. This was disclosed by president of Samprati Dr R L Bhat while talking to reporters here today. He said Kashmiri Bhasha evam Sanskriti Pratishthan (SAMPRATI) in collaboration with Kashmir Cultural Trust is organising a conference on Kashmiri culture, language and literature from March 14, 2015. The conference, titled Saman Bal 2015, shall be spread over six sessions on Kashmir history, cultural issues, Kashmiri language and literature, and sessions on languages other than Kashmiri and the art, film and drama. A host of prominent scholars including P N Trisal, Roop Krishen Bhat, R L Bhat, H L Misri, Ramesh Tamiri , Pradeep Kaul , Satish Vimal, Ramesh Hangloo, B N Betab, Rattan Talashi, R L Jawhar, Makhan Lal Saraf, Virender Rawal shall be discussing and debating the subjects. The sessions shall be headed by eminent writers and scholars M L Kemmu, Dr K L Chowdhury, M M Munshi, Kailash Mehra, Prof R.L. Shant, Omkar N Koul. The conference shall also include Children’s programme, from schools and Kashmiri speaking and singing competition. An exhibition of the books written by the exiled Kashmiri writers in Kashmiri, English, Hindi, and Urdu shall also be held at the venue of the conference, viz. Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, Ambphalla, Jammu. A documentary film shall also be shown during the conference. A multilingual mushaira and a music programme shall be held at Migrant Camp Jagti, on the last day of the conference. Some recent books authored by the writers in exile shall also be released during the inaugural session. The conference is proposed to be fully interactive with full participation of the audience in the discussions and debates initiated by the respective panellists. The conference, though primarily focussed on Kashmiri language shall be multilingual entertaining all languages during the discussions, interactions and mushaira.
