BHUBANESWAR, Nov 18: Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, has been conferred the prestigious FIVB Grand Cross Award, the highest honour from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The award was presented at the 39th FIVB World Congress held in Porto, Portugal.
This accolade recognizes Dr. Samanta’s remarkable contributions to sports, especially Volleyball. FIVB President Dr. Ary Graca presented the award during a ceremony attended by representatives from 222 countries. Dr. Graca had previously announced the honour during his visit to KIIT and KISS, citing Dr. Samanta’s exemplary efforts in promoting sports at the grassroots level.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Samanta expressed gratitude, dedicating the award to Lord Jagannath, Indian sportspersons, and the communities of Odisha, KIIT, and KISS. He stated, “This recognition is a testament to the collective effort in fostering sports and education.”
The FIVB Grand Cross Award is the organization’s highest distinction, given to individuals with significant contributions to the global growth of sports.
