Samba police arrests two cheats; recovers 12 ATM cards, Rs 50,000

JAMMU, Oct 8: Samba Police has nabbed two cheaters namely Rakesh alias Chinna S/o Ram Diya Sansi R/o Dharam Kheri Tehsil Narnodh, district Hissar, Haryana and Rohtash alias Tosha S/o Raj Kumar Sassi R/o Lohari Rago tehsil Narnodh district Hissar, Haryana.
Police said its headed by SI Rajeshwar Singh, Incharge PP Supwal under the supervision of Dr. Koushal Kumar Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Samba and Munish Anand, DySP HQ Samba nabbed two cheaters on the basis of CC Camera footage of ATM obtained after a complaint was made by a lady that someone has withdrawn an amount of Rs. 30,000 from her account.
Police said the lady had also reported that when she operated the ATM, one unknown person pushed her and her ATM card fell down, that person lifted the ATM card and returned it to her. But on reaching home when she saw the ATM card, it was exchanged one. When she got it blocked through the Bank in the meantime an amount of Rs. 30,000 was already withdrawn. 12 ATM cards and Rs. 50,000 has been recovered from their possession, police added.
Police said the accused were subjected to thorough interrogation and they revealed their modus operandi. The two cheaters revealed that they used to board buses from Haryana towards Jammu and on their way used to deboard at various stations where ATM Machines are available, enter the shops where the machines were installed, stand behind the ATM users, note their ATM Pins and then push them. Thereafter they exchange their ATM cards with the fake ATM cards and then withdraw their amount on the next station. So far as an amount of Rs. 50,000 has been recovered from their possession and a Case FIR No. 203/2013 U/S 420/380 RPC has been registered with Police Station Samba and investigation is going on.
Police said a message to all the SHOs of J&K State has been flashed to ascertain their involvement in any case of their respective Police Stations. Police is also trying to ascertain the ownership of the recovered 12 ATM Cards as their owners might have been duped in the similar way from these cheaters. With the arrest of these two cheaters, the solving of number of ATM fraud cases cannot be ruled out, police added.
