POONCH, Aug 27: District Samba and Reasi outplayed their opponents to advance in the Divisional Level Inter-District U-16 Cricket Tournament, which got underway, here today.
Earlier, in the first match, Samba registered a thrilling win over Kathua by one wicket.
Batting first, Kathua scored 103 for all in the stipulated 20 overs, while in reply, Samba chased the target by losing 9 wickets to win the match by 1 wicket. Shubam was the top scorer with 22 runs for Samba.
Meanwhile, in another match played today, Reasi defeated Kishtwar by a narrow margin of 10 runs, Reasi, batting first scored 85 runs, while in reply Kishtwar bundled out for a paltry total of 75 runs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 10 runs.
SP Poonch, Shamsher Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion, while Mohd Ayaz Khan, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Rajouri presided over the function. The matches were held under the overall supervision of Jatinder Singh, while Narinder Singh, Kewal Krishan, RS Toofan, Gurvinder Singh, Mohd Tariq, Motinder Pal Singh and Sameer Malik officiated the matches.
